Jamie Reschke is a multimedia artist specializing in sculpture and abstract painting. Her painting is process-driven, as she enjoys experiencing and adapting to the challenges her various media present during creation, adding a sense of spontaneity to her work. Her current painting series, “Textural Interiors,” is heavily informed by her sculptural background. Reschke combines the two mediums by applying different materials to the canvas to create a structural base before painting. “There’s a sense of freedom in experimenting with the different materials to make an interesting texture,” says Reschke, “I look at it as the process of displaying energy, and each time it yields a different result, which is exciting.” The results are minimalist yet stimulating sculptural paintings. Each piece displays its own energy and movement through varying levels of relief. Reschke emphasizes the texture with a predominantly neutral palette and adds minimal, bold color choices throughout the series to make the pieces even more visually stimulating.
This is Reschke’s first solo exhibition in Nashville. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Reschke received her BFA in painting and sculpture from The University of Alabama in 2017. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the country and included in both national and international publications. Reschke finds inspiration in interior architectural styles, art history, sculptural elements, and color theory.
