Moment/Momento

My sculptures are figurative glimpses of vulnerability cast into bronze. These bronzes are inspired by classical Italian Renaissance sculpture; the figure slowly comes to life from the material it was made. * This awaking aesthetic has inspired the figurative bronze sculptures in my series. I used the figure to capture these emotional moments from different experiences I have overcome, reaching out to others no longer there, praying for a sign or an answer, and then looking towards the future with a new perspective. The permanence of bronze captures these otherwise fleeting moments and preserves them. With these internal meanings come parallels to the historical reference of the Italian Renaissance. *Classical Italian Renaissance style refers to Michelangelo's non-finito sculptures “Captives” .(1520-1535) found in the Academia Gallery in Florence, Italy. |
